And so it begins...

So as most of you know, I was offered a position from the Asolo Theatre (which is where I have interned for a year now) to do Event Planning/Logistics. I have been so excited all summer waiting for this and now I am finally starting!!

We have sooooo much going on this year. There are by far, wayyyy more events than last year. So I will tell you about the first thing I am in charge of. We have this Dinner Series which will consist of 6 dinners at various locations around the Sarasota area. Basically we went through our VIP list and picked out people who we wanted to invite to this. Some people get invites to all the dinners (which means they are super important....OR we just get a ton of money from them!!), but some people only get invited to one or two dinners.

So this first dinner is Oct. 25. It is going to be held at Bay Preserve in Osprey. This is the name of the land that is owned by this environmental organization called the Sarasota Conservation Foundation (http://www.sarasotaconservation.org/). It's actually pretty neat, it protects Sarasota County's beaches and bays...etc.

Anyway, this land was picked by the chair of the dinner series. She picked all of the locations for all of the dinners actually. But the house that is on the property is going to be under construction at the time of the dinner, so there are some major issues with the restrooms. We have to rent a deluxe portable restroom.

I am sure it will probably all work out fine. I have to get together "old people" music, as the chair of the event put it. She then proceeded to say that all this crap that kids listen to these days is horrible...and then she weirdly began to rap something I couldn't understand... Haha you have to understand that she is this veryyyy southern accented but proper older woman. So this coming from her was hysterical.

She then went on to say I probably listen to all of that.

Hahahahaha.

So after the walk-through we had, I am feeling very pressured and excited at the same time. I feel like everyone thinks I am just this young college kid who doesn't know anything. Well, I mean, they wouldn't have given me the job if they thought I didn't know anything...but I am definitely going to have to prove myself with this first event.
